From the looks of it, you already knew that it was baked with such talented and creative hands. Today we are so lucky to be graced by the owner of Wandering Whisk Bakeshop, Jennifer Jacobs. Jennifer is a self-taught cake designer with a former career in the entertainment industry. After nearly four years of baking in her mom’s kitchen, Jennifer thought of expanding. She moved into her first commercial building and became an immediate success. Jennifer only accepts appointment-based custom orders, thus letting her enjoy a life full of independence and freedom as an entrepreneur.
Jennifer started baking as a child with her mom and developed a special bond in the kitchen. Being a Romania native, Jennifer prides herself on keeping heirloom recipes that were passed down from one generation of her family to another. Although she did not come from a family of entrepreneurs per se, Jennifer very much credits her career to her mom. You might see her mom helping Jennifer in the kitchen from time to time.
In this episode, Jennifer also shared her journey of shifting into the entrepreneurial space from the light and buzz of the entertainment industry. Jennifer also worked in TV prior to starting her baking business. She talks about how her clients have involved her in all the family celebrations. May it be their weddings, gender reveals, or birthdays. While it has been just a passion for her to make gorgeous pastries, she realized that having this soft place in her customers lives has created a deeper purpose in her creations.
Time Management Tip
Jennifer is big on routines. She loves to keep a physical planner on her side and just plan out what needs to be done for the upcoming week. During Thursdays and Fridays, Jennifer loves to just do the planning part and just proceed with her creation phase on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. She says setting up a routine like that helps her understand the next steps in her week.

Jennifer was a competitor in the Holiday Baking Championship: Christmas in July 2019. She was also chosen from thousands of aspiring talents to cater to the official NFL Tailgate Party at the Super Bowl. You will also find her featured in some of the big magazines like Cherry Bombe Magazine, The Tampa Bay Times, Bake Magazine, The Penny Hoarder, The Kitchn, Best Friends for Frosting, Martha Stewart, and in several national weddings publications.

Aside from being a certified travel buddy, Jen loves to visit her favorite locals in her spare time. She’s a big fan of coffee. She recommends Escape Route in Dunedin and Haven House in downtown Safety Harbor where you can get the best breakfast burritos in town. To add to the list of her favorites are Ozona Pig with their good barbecue and the Tostados of the Mangos & Marley which is a must.
